FAQ on C-MAX

C-MAX is a new generation Polymer additive, which has a property of making the Cement Expandable. The doses recommended are between 0.6% to 1.2%. But, best results are obtained at 1% addition rate i.e. 500 grams per bag of cement.

ADVANTAGES OF C-MAX

bulletIt makes the Cement Concrete quick setting. Final setting).
bulletIt expands the surface area of Cement, so that, the Concrete becomes more compact and less porous.
bulletCompactness leads to development of property of water proofing, due to reduction in porosity of concrete.
bulletIt is excellent Concrete strengthening and Water Proofing material.
bulletIt reduces the water demand of the cement mortar by 30-40%.
bulletAs the increased surface area retains more water, this helps in curing the cement and also takes care of deficient curing schedule in water starved areas.

ADDITION RATES

bulletDepending on the area of Application, C-Max should be added to Cement in the Ratio of 0.6% to 1.2% of Cement. Most ideal addition rate is 1% of cement.
bulletMix it with Sand, Cement and chips mixture and use the Mass.

(a)    For Concrete Roofing and Grouting - 1.0% of Cement (Most ideal addition rate)

(b)    For Plastering                                  - 1.0% of Cement (Most ideal addition rate)

TYPICAL RESULTS ACHIEVED IN A BIS(ISI) APPROVED CEMENT LABORATORY

CEMENT SAND RATIO 1:6 1:8 1:10
C-MAX Addition NIL NIL NIL
Porosity of Cement Blocks after 7 days curing 35% 36% 39%

CEMENT SAND RATIO 1:6 1:8 1:10
C-MAX Addition 1.0% of Cement 1.0% of Cement 1.0% of Cement
Porosity of Cement Blocks after 7 days curing 3% 3% 3.5%

From the above experiments, it is concluded that, most ideal addition rate for C-Max is 1% of Cement for the water proofing.

Cement & Sand 1:8 1:6 Remarks
(a) First block 350kg. cm2 350 kg./cm2 C-Max addition - Nil
(b) Second block 360 kg./cm2 360 kg./cm2 C-Max addition - 0.3%
(c) Third block 400 kg./cm2 400 kg./cm2 C-Max addition - 0.6%
(d) Fourth block 400 kg./cm2 400 kg/cm2 C-Max addition - 1.0%

Cement & Sand 1:8 1:6 Remarks
(a) First block 350kg. cm2 350 kg./cm2 C-max addition - Nil
(b) Second block 360kg./cm2 360 kg./cm2 C-max addition - 0.3%
(c) Third block 400kg./cm2 400 kg./cm2 C-max addition - 0.6%
(d) Fourth block 400kg./cm2 400 kg./cm2 C-max addition - 1.0%

From the above, it is deduced that, very safely, 15-20% of Cement can be reduced in the plastering job, because they do not involve any risk.for the water proofing.
